Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17:3)
So many times our relationship with our heavenly Father becomes time left over, verses the time you set aside. If there are things in your life that are keeping you from God - destroy them. If your lifestyle becomes too much, change you're whole lifestyle. You're life is saved through this surrender and commitment.
God wants Himself to become the very desire of your heart. In Psalms it says, "God wants to give you the desires of your heart." If your heart is desiring God, then you'll get God in all His fullness and glory. This is His master design. God is not hiding up there in heaven, He's not making Himself scarce in your life. No, He's screaming through circumstances, He's screaming through relationships, He's screaming through the quiet, broken times in your life. He's there ready for you, right when you say yes to Him.
Worship Him. The word worship is defined as a sacrifice that displays love. You can't have worship without a sacrifice, it's impossible. Following Jesus is an extremely hard thing to do in that. Jesus Himself even warned us of this.
In Matthew 10 it says, "When people realize it is the living God you are presenting and not some idol that makes them feel good, they are going to turn on you, even people in your own family. There is a great irony here, proclaiming so much love, experience so much hate! But don't quite. Don't cave in. It is all well worth it in the end. It is not success you are after in such times but survival. Be survivors! Before you've run out of options, the Son of Man will have arrived." And you're the few that will make it into eternal life with the Father.
